Loes Rutten is the Liaison Officer at the Universities of Applied Sciences Netherlands (UASNL). UASNL is a partnership of 18 Dutch universities of applied sciences that work together to profile themselves more strongly in the field of practice-oriented research at a European level. As Liaison Officer, she is the conduit of relevant developments at European level towards the UASNL members and she feeds back the daily reality of research at universities of applied sciences to European policymakers. In her position, her interests for research, collaboration and Europe come together.
Loes started her career with research, following her studies in Physics and Earth Sciences. In addition, she was active for many years in her spare time to represent the interests of young people at a European level through the European student organization AEGEE-Europe, of which she was international president, and the umbrella organization European Youth Forum, of which she was a board member. Before Loes started at UASNL, she worked at the TNO research institute, where she did research into the energy transition, soil use and sound sensors on microchips, among other things.
