Rien Puyenbroek started his career in communications and journalism and became an expert in the field of EU Public Affairs. From 1985 to 1994 Rien worked for the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, among others at the Dutch Permanent Representation at the EU in Brussels. From 2002 onwards, Rien is employed by the province of North-Brabant. From 2002 to 2008 he was the EU-representative and advisor for North-Brabant at HNP in Brussels.
From 2008 to 2015, on behalf of the province North-Brabant, Rien was responsible for communication and public affairs at knowledge institute World Class Maintenance in Breda. In 2015 Rien returned to his job as the EU public affairs senior advisor in Brussels.
Rien holds the topics transport and mobility, EU programs and innovations in his portfolio. Furthermore he maintains contact with the Assembly of European Regions (AER). Within the HNP context Rien is one of the contact persons for the ‘Cohesion policy post 2020’ dossier.
